Questions
Why are we undertaking this campaign?
While we work to open the doors to the future, we need to continue to be faithful to the commitment we made when we began the Imagine, Engage, Become project: to continue to pay down the debt on the remaining balance of the loans that were secured to do this much needed work. The 2.5 million dollar project is completed and one million dollars was raised to finance the project. Now we seek to reduce the debt.
How will this campaign help reduce our debt and Open New Door to Ministry?
On the remaining debt of 1.35 million dollars, approximately $40,000 on average will be paid in interest each year if we pay down (amortize) the mortgage as scheduled. However, if we can raise those funds over three years, the we would save $800,000 over the 20 year life of the loan! Imagine the doors to the future we could open if we could pay down and eliminate these obligations! Imagine what we can do for Christ!
How may I prepare to participate?
Allow God to speak to your heart through prayer. Read Scripture passages that speak about stewardship and giving, such as 1 Corinthians 16:2, Proverbs 11:25, Proverbs 3:5-9, 2 Corinthians 8:7, Acts 20:35, Luke 6:38, and Psalm 116:12.
What is a commitment card?
A commitment card helps the church to understand what kinds of gifts to expect and when to expect them. By completing this card you allow the church to move forward with a thoughtful, wise financial plan.
What if my circumstances change after I have made a pledge?
A commitment card is a statement of intent, not a contract. If your financial circumstances change significantly, your giving should also change. Simply contact the church to adjust your commitment - letting the church know about the change (increase, decrease, or timing) in your giving.
How long will this campaign last?
We are asking for a three year financial response that formally begins March 28, 2010. You decide your personal giving schedule - weekly, monthly, quarterly, one time gifts or asset transfers, or another schedule of your choice. Decide on a plan that works for you; then, help the church understand your giving plan.
